Sir: Why has the government put a ban on pillion riding? Just because we are innocent, hapless, middle class citizens of Pakistan whose only source of transportation is a motorcycle does not make us the children of a lesser god. Our rich class, including politicians and feudals, who move in four wheel drives and double cabins, are the least affected by this stream of terrorism and the government’s ban on pillion riding. This is not a fair step by our administration. Overseas, governments deduct taxes of 20 to 25 percent from well-earning employed persons and give relief to the jobless poor people but in Pakistan we are paying various types of taxes, including General Sales Tax (GST), payroll, withholding, property taxes and many more yet we are the ones facing all the problems. I urge my government to lift this aforementioned ban and try to solve its problems at a more basic level. M OSAMA AFNAN HANAFIKarachi
