Sir: The PML-N government has given us yet another piece of news to be ‘delighted’ about. We have now been told that we, the hapless citizens, should not expect an end to the severe load shedding we are facing until at least 2017, which is a whole two years from now. Whatever happened to the lofty promises the Sharif government made us during its election campaign about ridding the country of the electricity crisis as soon as it comes to power? Judging by the poor performance of the government in not just the electricity crisis but also the gas shortage and petrol crisis, we are in for the long haul when it comes to suffering without basic necessities. Sometimes it feels as though the 2017 date is also too good to be true, such is the ineffectiveness of this government. SANA GHANI Lahore
