Sir: of late, I have observed that the quality of food served in hotels has gone down. Even restaurants famous for their fine cuisine and quality products have stopped making good food a priority. For every complaint that I made in a number of restaurants I was responded with a similar answer that people eat whatever they are served. On the other hand the cost per person has risen exorbitantly. Even a small cup of coffee at an ordinary restaurant is sold for not less than Rs 300. An outing, which is already restricted to eating out, is now getting out of the reach of an ordinary person. This also shows the absence of checks by the food department. Recently though, there has been a harsh crackdown on restaurants serving adulterated Ketchup and the outlets have been strictly asked to keep only branded ketchups. Such exercises should be constantly followed in other areas as well. Munawer Sabir Lahore
