Sir: The Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development and Transparency (PILDAT) recently issued a survey discussing the 100-day performance of the federal and four provincial governments. According to the survey, 62 percent of the people of Pakistan have positively rated the federal government of PML-N. In the four provinces, the people have given 56, 22 and 12 percent ratings to the Punjab, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhunkhwa and Sindh governments. Some important questions have been raised after this survey report. First of all, according to the survey, the cabinet-less government of Balochistan is still able to get 22 percent positive numbers. The Balochistan government is still under process with only Chief Minister Dr Malik Baloch and Mr Sanaullah Zehri dealing with the government affairs. Since the PML-N government has taken oath, economic and financial parameters have decreased drastically. The rate of inflation is ready to touch the double-digit number once again. Most importantly, the government has again taken a loan from the IMF. The energy policy announced by the government is just like a dream on paper, according to which all subsidies will be removed within a couple of months but load shedding will remain for the next five to six years. The people will pay more but will not be able to get any benefits. The project of the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline is also in a state of denial. According to news sources, Iran has built the pipeline in its area and is now waiting for Pakistan, which has yet to start work on it. The value of the rupee is decreasing with every passing day, which shows the complete instability in the economic conditions of the country. Petrol prices have also reached Rs 110 per litre. In case of food items, the price of flour has gone up to Rs 50 per kg and poultry is now Rs 200 plus per kg in Punjab. It took three months to call an all parties conference (APC) on terrorism. Keeping in view the above situation, if 62 percent of the people of Pakistan think that the government is going in the right direction, then it looks like we, the mango people of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, love to live in a state of denial.
