A bureaucratic flaw

Sir: A saying in English goes: a stupid friend is like a defective time bomb (it can explode anytime). Contrary to the politics of peace and reconciliation advocated by the prime minister and the chief minister Punjab, the bureaucracy has been using counterproductive tactics to benefit the agenda of the likes of Dr Qadri. On his own Dr Qadri could not have raised such a huge momentum. If earlier he was popular within a religious circle, with the bloodshed of his workers in the Model Town incident, he has become a leader of the masses. Poor bureaucratic management has made all the difference. Political leaders like the Sharif brothers should be wise enough to weigh the value of blood in a political movement. The government needs to take some serious steps to reform its image and undo the damage done by the administration.
