Sir: This is apropos the letter ‘The harm in eating instant food’ (Daily Times, March 26, 2014). In this letter, the author, Sara Khan, tries to explain how fast food is harming the general health of the masses although she does not provide any concrete evidence to prove her point. My point of view is somewhat different from that of the writer because if we see the trends amongst people across the world, it becomes visible that people are now showing more confidence in sealed foods than in home-cooked food. There are many reasons behind this; for instance, in each and every country, a proper setup exists to inspect the quality and quantity of ingredients a fast-food chain is using and this system has the authority to cancel the licence of any company proved to have used unhygienic food under the charter of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). These special systems are internally linked with the FDA, which analyses the overall performance of the systems working on the ground. The quality of food totally depends on the system a country has and the rest are only myths that people are spreading. ABDUL WADOOD RAJA Rawalpindi
