Sir: It seems that today we are completely trapped in our egos. We do not listen to other points of view nor do we tolerate differences in opinion. We let our egotistic emotions overtake our rationality, closing the door to solutions and improvements. The same thought process is significant when it comes to our national issues. ‘I’ and ‘me’ is more important than ‘us’ as a whole. The current political impasse is the result of such attitudes. If national interests are put above one’s ego and a consensus is drawn between the opposing parties, not only will it help to overcome this stalemate but will be favourable for our own nation.
