Sir: It might be a strange thing for some but it is the reality of our town Turbat. Apart from the ongoing confrontation between Baloch insurgents and the Frontier Corps (FC) that causes human lives to be lost every now and then, animals too are not safe in this troubled town. The stealing of goats, for example, is a common phenomenon in this town. According to some rough estimates, almost 500 goats have been stolen in 2014 alone. People steal these animals and sell them in other towns. What the state needs to understand is its responsibility to ensure the safety of people and their property. Though life here is too cheap, the local and provincial authorities should take this matter into consideration as well and help these people recover their losses. BAHRAM SAYAD Turbat
