Sir: The Peshawar tragedy has brought home the reality that it is time to crush the heartless terrorists. It is now or never. In this entire scenario, we have two heroes: one is the army led by a strong and determined General Raheel Sharif, and the other are people like Farzana Bari, Jibran Nasir and Nadia Naviwala. The way they stood outside the Lal Masjid and bravely condemned Maulana Abdul Aziz and his followers was commendable. This indicates that the nation has had enough of these brutal and heartless killings and those who condone such brutal acts. So far politicians are standing behind the army but the time is not far when they will revert to their party politics. The difference this time around is that ordinary Pakistanis have woken up to the misinterpretation of religion. Even the known sympathisers of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan have changed their stance and are now demanding the toughest of actions against the militants. The PML-N and the PTI should also resolve their differences quickly in order to present a united front to the deadly enemy for no cause is greater than national survival. Zaheer Ahmed Islamabad
