Increasing street crimes

Published on: March 7, 2016 10:37 AM

Sir: A Rangers-led operation is going on in Karachi. They have succeeded in bringing down the crime rate in the port city. However street crimes, mainly mobile-phone snatching incidents have not reduced till now. There is a very active Facebook group known as Halaat Updates (https://web.facebook.com/groups/haalatpk). Around 40,000 people are the members of this group.

Many people report their street-crime issues on this group page and not to the police, Rangers or any other law enforcement agency. Scores of people also update this group page within seconds of any incident happening in Karachi.

It is my suggestion that the Sindh Rangers (if they are not accessing it) should access this Halaat Updates group. In this way, they can get a lot of information about the crime situation in Karachi.
