Sir: We have all had to bid a heartbreaking goodbye to Justice Rana Bhagwandas, an eminent senior judge who died of cardiac arrest in Karachi at the age of 73. This legendary man achieved many milestones in his lifetime: he became the first Hindu and the second non-Muslim to serve as chief of the highest court in Pakistan and he worked as the chairman of the Federal Public Service Commission of Pakistan. Some months ago, I encountered this legendary man and found him to be an affable dignitary with a serene, calm exterior. His smiling image is still preserved in my mind. When I heard him talk, I felt hopeful that our nation would change and come onto the path of progress. He stood optimistic and charismatic throughout his services to Pakistan. I extend all my condolences and sympathy to his family and hope they all get the support to sail through this difficult time. May his soul remain in peace. NASIR-UD-DIN SOOMRO Hyderabad
