Sir: Nowadays, Pakistan is the most dangerous place for practicing journalism in the world. Journalists working in conflict areas are often targeted by militants/terrorist so it has become difficult for them to work in a secure atmosphere. Attacks and killing of journalists in Pakistan are the clear evidence of how critical situation is. In Pakistan, journalists are killed, unjustly detained and threatened by militants, tribal and feudal lords, as well as by some political parties. For free media, as it promotes democracy, transparency and accountability, it is essential that the government and civil society join hands to device a mechanism for ensuring the safety of journalists.
