Sir: It was March 23, 1940 when the Pakistan Resolution was passed that is also known as the Lahore Resolution. This day holds a special prominence in the heart of every Pakistani. So the people of Pakistan celebrate March 23 every year with great passion and contentment, to venerate the most outstanding achievement of the Muslims of South Asia who passed the historic Pakistan Resolution on this day at Lahore in 1940. It was on March 23 that the goal of achieving a separate homeland for Muslims was formally announced for the first time. The Pakistan Resolution is believed to be the epitome of goal-orientation, of the untiring and unfailing struggle of Indian Muslims, and it became the cornerstone for accomplishment of the dream of the Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah for an independent state for the Muslims of the subcontinent. March 23 is the most appropriate juncture for contemplation, for a reappraisal of national objectives, for revisiting the past, for recollecting the Quaid’s inspirational words, and for delineating the train of events that led to the creation of Pakistan. The achievements of March 23 should be remembered so that we are fully able to comprehend our potential. We have inherited courage and talent and we should work hard to show the world that we can accomplish anything. Pakistan enjoys all four seasons; it has everything in all manner of landforms like plains, deserts, mountains, hills, forests; it has areas with glaciers, and areas of extreme heat; and a rich culture and tradition.
