Sir: I would like to draw the attention of the concerned authorities towards the difficulties of the residents of Jiwani Heights and its vicinity in front of Daewoo Bus Terminal at Super Highway Karachi. Thousands of dwellers have to cross the Super Highway in front of Jiwani Heights to go to work places, schools and colleges on a daily basis. One can easily witness a large number of students, women and elderly people, who keep on waiting for safely crossing the road. Resultantly, it takes more than the required time to cross the busy road as they have to wait for the uninterrupted flow of traffic to slow down. During this waiting, many people are robbed of their valuables and mobile phones. Due to non-availability of an overhead bridge, incidents of robberies and accidents are reported daily in this area. Last week, an elderly resident of Jiwani, Mr Ghulam Karim, lost his life while crossing this road near Jiwani Heights. Therefore it is requested to the concerned authorities to provide us a proper road crossing facility in the form of a pedestrian bridge or underpass. FIDA KARIM Karachi
