Sir: In the self-imposed battle for prime ministership between the government and the PTI, the country seems to be lost on other critical issues happening in Pakistan. The sorry state of affairs has already brought the pharmaceutical industry to the point where it is no longer producing medicines such as Bromocriptine (Parlodel), which is important for treating patients with high Prolactin levels in the blood, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, infertility, prolactinoma, acromegaly and Parkinson’s disease. This drug has also been approved to treat type 2 diabetes.Patients suffering from the above mentioned diseases are running from one pharmacy to another to attain this drug. Moreover, what increases the misery of the patients and their families is that there is no alternative available for this drug in the market.Already the quality of life is deteriorating in Pakistan; at least the government can ensure the continued availability of life saving drugs.
