Sir: A life span of 99 years is not a rare thing to hear of, but Khushwant Singh lived every moment of his life to the fullest. He was a legend in himself. He had probably the widest experience in the fields that he worked in. Born during the First World War, he saw the Second World, the Independence of India, the emergency of 1975 and much more. He had such a connection with his readers that today we all feel a sense of loss. His writings on South Asian history, Indian politics, various Indian communities and political personalities are simply stupendous. He consistently reminded us that humans are full of white, grey and black shades and that no one is god. We all have a lot to learn from him in how to live every moment of life to the fullest by being true to oneself. Khushwant Singh, your legacy will be remembered — rest in peace.
