Sir: A few weeks ago, I happened to visit an office in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa along with a friend who wanted to transfer his plot. I was surprised to see that in this era of technological advancement and despite the availability of so many instruments of transaction, the sale/purchase of plots was being done in cash. This shows that either the people don’t have any concept about these instruments or they feel that even these modes of transfer of money are not safe and can be manipulated. While we’re on the subject of transactions, it would be appropriate to mention another grave issue: the physical transaction and custody of prize bonds including their initial issue from the State Bank that is dangerous from the security point of view. A writer once gave a good suggestion in that the physical issue of the prize bonds should be discontinued and that only the numbers of the bonds should be issued to the investors. The amount of the prizes should also be credited to the accounts of the prize winners. We have thousands of software development companies and engineers who could design the required software without any problem. Azfar A Khan Rawalpindi
