Sir: No words are enough to condemn the carnage in Peshawar. The massacre was coldblooded. The mental agony that the survivors might be going through is unspeakable. So traumatic was the tragedy that millions of Pakistanis took some time to comprehend what had happened. One thing is proved beyond doubt that if such a horrible act is not enough to move our power wielders to frame a coherent and effective counterterrorism strategy, the monster of militancy will linger for a long time and cause even more destruction to our society. This is the time to take decisive action against these monsters. A TV anchor has rightly pointed out that the problem in dealing with terrorism is not of will but of capacity. We have to combat militancy. Our leadership — civilian and military– should now pull out all stops to achieve a truly hate-free, peaceful state. Shakeel Ghouri Mirpurkhas
