Sir: Recently, I was driving on the road when I heard the wailing siren of an ambulance coming from behind. As responsible citizens, many drivers turned their vehicles to the left lane to let the ambulance overtake. After moving my vehicle to the left, I saw in the back view mirror a dinky little ambulance at a distance of about 100 metres making a desperate effort to pass by other vehicles. As the ambulance came nearer, I was astounded by the fact that it was an imported 660cc vehicle also known as JDM that was converted into an ambulance. We are all well aware of the fact that the vehicle chosen for emergency duties should be a strong powerful one, so that a patient may swiftly be moved to hospital. I request the higher authorities to develop minimum fitness criteria for a vehicle to be used as an ambulance. DAWOOD KHALID Islamabad
