Sir: The quest for knowledge has been central to the message of Islam. This reminds me of the words of Hazrat Ali (RA) who once said, “No honour is like knowledge, no belief is like modesty and patience, no attainment is like humility, no power is like forbearance, and no support is more reliable than consultation.” The hidden message in this saying is that unless we acknowledge not knowing, we cannot open ourselves to learning. Similarly, the access to knowledge is the first step and the next is its application. After all it all depends on people how they use the knowledge they possess. Unfortunately in our society we have lost the meaning of knowledge and whatever we know is being used in evil things. Knowledge brings ethics and faith. It softens a person and makes him a true human. I request those with knowledge and wisdom to help us become an enlightened society. Hashim Abro Islamabad
