Sir: The horrific killing of more than 100 schoolchildren in Peshawar by terrorists has shown us that even with the ongoing army operation in FATA, terrorists are still able to strike Peshawar. The reason is Peshawar’s close proximity to the FATA region. Without a proper government and control in FATA, Peshawar can never be a safe city. Therefore the government should extend its constitutional writ to FATA and make it just like any other region of Pakistan. And to help ensure a smooth transition, the entire FATA region should be annexed to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, so that the provincial government can offer services of experienced and skilled personnel who understand the local culture and are better able to govern the area.
