Sir: What forced me to write this letter was a need to direct the attention of our public towards the recent killing of Doctor Shakeel Auj, Dean of the Islamic Studies Department at the University of Karachi. But he is not the only victim. In these past couple of years we have constantly been hearing news of teachers being murdered brutally all over Pakistan. I cannot comprehend what is going to become of our nation if teachers, the ones who inspire generations, are killed in cold blood. The reason most of them are killed is because they speak against the issues haunting our society (for example this victim had spoken a great deal about inter-sectarian harmony and against extremism). The authorities always claim they will investigate these murders, but after some time no one knows what happens to the investigation or if the culprit was actually found or not. I would like to plead with the investigating officers to do something about this matter, before this sinking nation of ours drowns completely. MUHAMMAD YOUSHAKarachi
