Sir: At this stage when the state is engaged in a full fledged operation against the militants, confronting Tahir-ul-Qadri has been a suicidal attempt. The police opened fire at unarmed people without any fear of consequences. The other downside to this depressing episode is the persistent denial of the government to own it. It is a question of the government’s competence and its control over the law enforcement agencies. If the government wishes to sustain the system it must bring the culprits to book without any compromise. Though the clock cannot be turned back, allowing justice to run its course will definitely make up for the loss. Let actions speak louder than words. Asma Rai Nankana Sahib
