Sir: The maternal mortality rate (MMR) is going up with every passing year in Pakistan. MMR in Pakistan continues to be among the highest in the region. In the Gwadar district of Balochistan, every month an average of five women die while giving birth. This research was conducted by the Indus Hospital and various NGOs working in the district. According to the report, this is due to the lack of facilities and insufficient number of doctors. There are only two lady medical officers in the entire district. It is a humble request from the people of Gwadar to the chief minister Balochistan and health minister to take urgent notice of the issue and save the lives of poor women.
