Sir: Because of construction activity life in the twin cities of Rawalpindi-Islamabad has become miserable due to heavy machinery, dust and mud. The PML-N government is out to complete the said project at any cost. The aforementioned bus service will cover the distance of 20 km having 14 bus stops at various locations. The cost of the project is approx Rs 24 billion. The four lanes from Tarnol to Pesahwar Mor are under construction too. One wonders over the need for destroying the greenery and master plan of the federal capital. The same bus service can perhaps use 9th Avenue instead of the green belts around 9th Avenue.Instead of spending Rs 24 billion on the metro bus service we could have earned more respect internationally by eradicating polio and making Pakistan a polio-free country. We could have utilised these funds on our education. Although our official figures say that our literacy rate is 58 per cent, these figures include those who can merely read or write their name. What a shame.Tahir Iqbal JadoonIslamabad
