Sir: The terrorist attack on Karachi airport left almost everybody stunned. Our armed forces and ASF personnel played their part well. The media was very active throughout the attack, but one thing that needs to be discussed is that unintentionally, the media was disclosing the plans of the security forces by showing live coverage of the operation, which must have made things easier for the terrorists. All the reporters were trying to get something extra in the race for ratings. For example, they reported that three of the passenger planes were hijacked. They even claimed that fire had erupted on two planes that were parked. Making news sensational and dramatic is unethical and unprofessional. Journalism is about accurate reporting. But the media’s interference was becoming a barrier for the security forces and creating panic amongst the people. The media should report the truth instead of spreading rumours. Sheharyar Ali Karachi
