Sir: After waiting for nine months, finally the Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) announced the date for the written test for the recruitment to the posts of Assistant Director BP 17 (Public Awareness) in the Environment and Alternative Energy Department, which was held on December 22, 2013. Nearly 221 candidates were declared eligible for appearing in the written test by the SPSC. The test paper contained MCQs carrying negative marking. The test was so simple and easy that many of us believed we had already qualified. After a few days, when the result was announced on December 25, 2013, it shocked many since only four candidates have been declared successful in the written examination. This really made us upset. In fact, from these four candidates, we personally knew two of them who were not good enough to pass the test; even their knowledge about basic principles of journalism, the prerequisite for the post, was not up to the mark. We have no objection to the declared passed candidates. We want the SPSC to tell us that what criteria have been used to pass these candidates because the majority of the candidates became frustrated and disappointed after seeing the unexpected result and this has left many questions and queries in our minds about SPSC. We deserve to know the answer to these questions. We also request the SPSC Chairman and members to inform clearly the passing criteria before taking the examination. Aangli Khan Banglani Shikarpur
