Sir: Both Nawaz Sharif and Imran Khan are quite ready to give space to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other militant groups to list their demands and resolve issues. Apparently both the government and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) believe it is positive to talk with the Taliban in order to determine the root causes of their conflict with the state and turn them away from violence. Both party leaders’ continued and keen interest in the process shows that they still believe in dialogue even though the TTP want their supposed version of Shariah to be imposed. However, one must question the rationale they have used to come to this conclusion since it is quite evident that the TTP and other anonymous terrorist groups are continuing to use violence simultaneously with talks. And while both leaders have time to discuss dialogue with militants at gunpoint, they have never made a similarly positive gesture towards the Baloch who are unhappy, to say the least, about historic injustices to their province. Balochistan is rich with natural resources but the people are poor due to negligence by the state, and they continue to be deprived of the most basic necessities. Why is it that our elected representatives are not ready to talk to the Baloch in order to resolve their issues, but are willing continue a dialogue with the TTP, which not only attacks civilian but also army personnel?
