Sir: Thar has been facing a severe drought since long. The basic reason for the crisis is lack of good governance and unavailability of basic needs. In recent days, more than 150 adolescents have died in Mithi and other parts of Thar. The basic needs of the Thari people are food, water and working dispensaries. The government set up water purification plants but this proved to be in vain because more than 100 plants are not working. Doctors do not want to get appointed at various hospitals in Thar due to the absence of basic facilities. According to media reports, 85 dispensaries are closed. The government should provide basic facilities to the people of Thar. A medical college and university should be set up. The establishment of a medical college will be a good option. In this way, we can groom future doctors who can serve the Thari people. SAEED BHANBHRO Khairpur
