Sir: Terrorism in Pakistan has been growing at an alarming rate. One wonders at the negligence by state institutions and what they are doing. Why are we unable to counter this challenge? What went wrong and where? We need to ponder the situation and understand the gravity of the matter. Merely giving statements at the highest level is not sufficient. In 2011, the PNS Mehran base in Karachi was attacked by militants and the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) took responsibility. In the aforementioned terrorist activity, 15 terrorists were killed and 18 military personnel embraced martyrdom. This time it was Karachi Airport and the style of the terrorists was similar. The head of the Rangers said that the appearance of the killed terrorists resembled that of Uzbeks or other foreigners. The TTP has claimed responsibility this time as well. But what about those who have lost their precious lives? My only hope is for the government to have a clear mind against terrorists and that it should take a bold step once and for all.
