Sir: The chief minister of Punjab while carrying out development projects in Lahore forgot critical issues of other districts of Punjab. My city Khanewal, like other districts of southern Punjab, is deprived of basic necessities like proper healthcare. There is only one DHQ in Khanewal which refers patients in a critical situation to Multan, making an excuse of lack of surgical facilities, machinery and staff. Due to this, patients have died on their way to Multan. The DHQ’s condition is miserable, though its building is impressive and spacious. It has no basic facilities. There is an X-ray machine but there are no films. There is a lab but its reports are often not reliable. It is the only hospital serving more than two million people. I request the departments concerned and the chief minister to take immediate measures to sort out healthcare problems in Khanewal. Shoaib Mahmood Khanewal
