Sir: According to the Pakistan Fisher Folk’s (PFF) statistics at least 125 and 275 fishermen are in the Indian jail for the last 19 and five years respectively. PFF in collaboration with the local fishermen has launched a one month long protest campaign in various cities of Sindh from April 10 to May 10, 2014. The first protest was held on April 10 in Chuhar Jamali — a town situated at Indus delta. The federal government in coordination with the government of Sindh must take up the issue to the Indian government on priority basis and get the imprisoned fishermen released as soon as possible. It goes without saying that a mechanism must be developed to avoid such arrests in future in both the countries. Mohammad Khan Sial Karachi
