Sir: Our girls should be motivated, encouraged and given the right to higher education. In many places, people do not want to teach their daughters after the fifth grade; they do not even know that the female brain develops faster than the male brain. Girls will acquire complex verbal skills as early as a year before boys of the same age. They perform significantly better in problem solving situations due to a bigger bundle of nerves connecting the right and left hemispheres of the brain. In this advanced age, girls and women are doing as much work as men. Women and girls have more capabilities and internal resources to face all the challenges of this world. They are doing more productive work than men. Females should not depend on others; they should support their families financially. We see that girls are doing well in their studies and that they are acquiring a higher merit than boys, especially in universities where they are more successful. Women have achieved good positions in high levels of government and private institutions. We should promote girls’ education, broaden our thinking and treat them equally to boys. HIRA ATIQ Karachi
