Sir: Despite the passage of three days of an attack on a group of journalists from Johi, no action has been taken by the police against the landlord and his men who allegedly attacked the journalists. Journalists Pir Bux Babar, Ghulam Rasool Thaheem and Alam Theem went to report the ruthless chopping of a tree in Kachho area of Taluka Johi District Dadu, when according to media reports, a group of men attacked them, broke their cameras, brutally tortured them and took them to the Autak (village guesthouse) owned by landlord Ahmed Khan Leghari. They were kept hostage there for a couple of hours. The injured journalists were taken to hospital but no case was registered. Journalists staged a protest in Johi and Dadu and condemned the incident. Pir Bux Babar, former president of the Johi Press Club told me that the landlord enjoys the support of the ruling party, therefore the police is not taking action against him. Johi has become one of the dangerous areas for journalists. A few years ago, journalist Ghulam Rasool was killed in village Wahi Pandhi and since then journalists are being targeted by the perpetrators of violence. If the attackers of the journalists are not taken to task, the situation will become worse. GULSHER PANHWERJohi
