Sir: The fusion of Indian tidings in our news and the level of appreciation our electronic media has for Bollywood makes us wonder whether our media represents Pakistan or the subcontinent. Promotion of Indian films and commemorating their success has become a key component of our news headlines. Our media opts to air documentaries of Indian artists but often sidelines the achievements of our own. This was seen when instead of paying a proper tribute to the legendary M M Alam on the eve of his death, a documentary on Yash Chopra was broadcast by one of our country’s renowned news channels. They should be able to strike a balance. Indians are proud of their accomplishments and our media leaves no stone unturned in endorsing them. The media needs to exhibit a spirit of nationalism and to highlight our own culture properly. MISBAH MAJID & AMMARAH KHAN Islamabad
