Sir: Due to a sharp rise in private schools’ fees, a large portion of a family’s budget is spent on the payment of school expenses. In order to meet the other needs of the family, the head of the family has to take loans. There are some families that cannot pay every month’s fee but still wish to provide their children good quality education. This is a serious issue and creating difficulties for the people belonging to the lower and middle classes to arrange the education of their children. The phenomenon has given birth to other negative consequences. In order to maintain household expenses, many people fail to sustain the pressure and fall victim to various diseases. There is a rise in cases of heart attack, high blood pressure, brain haemorrhage, and other big health problems. The solution to this problem is that the standard of education at government schools should be improved so that people could send their children to these schools. The government also needs to introduce a monitoring system to check those private schools that charge hefty fees for teaching students. HUDA IBTISAMA SHEIKH Karachi
