Sir: It has been recently notified through media that only one person can receive or see off a passenger at the airports in Pakistan due to security reasons. It seems to be a good decision as it will minimize the number of unwanted people at airports and would apparently reduce security risks. But it is surely against our cultural norms and the centuries-old tradition of the subcontinent to receive and see off a visitor with full protocol. What is the guarantee that the `one’ person who would receive or see off a passenger can’t be a security hazard? The government needs to look at its own security arrangement to make sure that never ever again airports are targeted in Pakistan. M Asif Karachi
