Sir: A lot is being said about the recent elections held in Afghanistan. Our television anchors are busy discussing whether Karzai or Abdullah Abdullah will be elected. Wild guesses are being made. Our anchors should get feedback from Afghan television channels and the local press, and then educate the viewers about the situation. This is not being done. They are also commenting on the issue of the US leaving behind troops to support the Afghan government. Why can we not leave things to the US to decide? After all, it went through 10 years of war and is in a far better position to decide. What our television programmers need to do is wait for what the US decides and then hold discussions on the effects of the US’s decision and how it would affect Pakistan. The BBC and CNN do not go into the depth of an issue like our television channels do. Our television channels are confusing the viewers on each and every issue, whether national or international. This needs to be looked into by PEMRA and other concerned authorities. M AFZAL SADIQ Attock
