Sir: According to a media report, during a ceremony, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has distributed cash awards of Rs 30,000 each among 500 artistes in Peshawar which comes to a total amount of Rs 15 million plus expenditure. PTI emerged as a revolutionary party with the slogan of bringing a change in the lives of the poor. It is interesting to note that dance and music in public are being projected as our culture whereas it is a profession of a few public entertainers. Dance and music are meaningless for a poor and hungry person. There are a large number of people living in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa who are waiting for clean drinking water, enough food, healthcare, sewerage system, etc. I hope PTI will shun elitist culture and concentrate on the allocation of resources for arranging basic necessities of life.
