Sir: Unfortunately, the social evil of corruption in all its forms and manifestations has become synonymous with our society. We live in a society where everyone is corrupt according to his/her capacity, power and authority. The corrupt and corrupters are considered the privileged people of this society, and on the contrary, the non-corrupt are the discarded and dejected breed of society. We live in a society where people choose to be corrupt. I know several young men who, as long as they were without position and power, were righteous and upright but when they got prised and powerful positions, they, like chameleons, changed their colours. Now they have become the corrupt breed rather notorious for their novel ways of corruption. However, when it comes to the menace of corruption in Sindh province, the nature of corruption has become deep-rooted because nothing is done to contain, control or combat this scourge. Reports reveal that there is a marathon for greed and corruption in the province and the winners of this marathon, at present, are the callous officers of the Town Municipal Administration (TMA). They do nothing but corruption and corruption. They have devised new ways and means of corruption. Heaps of garbage are seen everywhere and every city, town and village stinks but who cares in this fishy and foul–smell addicted society, where corruption is permissible so who can feel the offensive smell around.
