Sir: I want to draw the attention of the concerned authorities towards the problem of obscenity in our movies. This problem is becoming very serious with every passing day. In my opinion, our filmmakers want to imitate English and Indian movies. Most of our filmmakers are not educated. They do not know that movies reflect the culture of a particular society. We must bear in mind that these obscene movies are adversely affecting our culture. There is no doubt that movies are a great source of entertainment. People get rid of their tensions by watching good movies. Last but not least, the film industry has become a major head of earning in several nations where a large amount of the budget is allocated for movie making. The government should pay attention and take necessary steps for the revival of the film industry in Pakistan so that people could watch good movies. I suggest that filmmakers should be given proper training to make movies free of obscenity. The government should open an academy where future movie-makers could learn how to make good movies. The producers who are guilty of producing obscene movies should be punished. I hope that the concerned authorities will realise the significance of this problem and take necessary measures.
