Sir: I want to draw the government’s attention towards a major problem that needs to be dealt with before it goes from bad to worse. Ramzan is considered one of the holiest months of the Islamic calendar. It teaches tolerance, peace and justice, but for many in this country the month comes with some horrible consequences. The poor families who are already spending hard times due to poverty are further burdened by the rise in the prices of things of everyday consumption. It is the responsibility of the authorities concerned to survey markets rather than remaining silent and becoming puppets in the hands of the shopkeepers. Zohaib Aslam Turbat
