Sir: The recent incidents of suicide by teenagers in the country have raised concerns. In most of the incidents, youngsters used guns of their parents. A study in the US tells that nearly 60 percent of all suicides are committed with a gun. That is why any gun in your home should be unloaded, locked, and kept out of the reach of children and teens. Adolescence is also a time of sexual identity and relationships when one desires for independence that often conflicts with the rules and expectations set by one’s parents and family. Parents should keep a close eye on their children and it is more important to keep the lines of communication open with their children. For parents, the death of a child is the most painful loss.
