Sir: In the revised National Judicial Policy 2012, according to Sub/Section IV of Section 19 of the D part of chapter 3 (page 29) it is said: “… besides up-gradation to the staff of prison department, and incentive of upgradation, an additional allowance equivalent to one basic pay salary to be extended to the staff of reclamation and probation in line with the province of Punjab.” In compliance with the National Judicial Policy of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, the home department upgraded all the officers of the prison department except the officers of the Directorate of Reclamation and Probation (DRP). The director DRP has since forwarded the summary for upgradation, which is lying unattended with the chief minister Sindh since Sept 7, 2013. The discrimination in the award of salary to the probation and parole officers is unjustified keeping in view Articles 25 and 27 of the Constitution of Pakistan. It is mandatory to mention here that the probation officers work for the honourable courts. Therefore we request the Chief Justice of Pakistan and the Chief Justices of all the High Courts to take serious notice of the issue and do justice with the parole officers of Sindh.
