Sir: The project of provision of electricity to Mubarak village has been idle for the past four years. Poles and electric wires were installed in about half of the Mubarak village but the other half was left to live in darkness. Efforts had been started for provision of electricity in 2009, when former Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah had announced transforming the Mubarak village into a model village. Mubarak village is Karachi’s second largest fisherman locality, but has no basic facilities such as jetty, gas, health, and education. Mubarak village is 30 km away from Karachi city with a population of more than 10,000 people. The village dwellers have demanded an inquiry into affair, asking as to the why development work has been stopped. SARFRAZ HAROON Karachi
