Sir: Pakistani media, print and electronic, is providing its readers and viewers with excessive amounts of news, information and entertainment. Most of the content aired and published in the media has a targeted audience of youth, adults and old people. Unfortunately, an important section of our society is completely being ignored by the media, especially the electronic media. Until the recent past there were at least a few shows for children like animated series, game shows, or musical and infotainment programmes but now all of it has vanished. Children not only enjoyed such programmes but they used to gather a lot of information from these activities. At present there is almost no content presented on television or on radio intended only for children. Therefore children are forced to watch and listen to adult drama programmes and even political shows. At this stage such adult oriented programmes do not help groom these young minds the way they ought to be. I suggest that every television channel should allocate a reasonable timeslot for children. In that timeslot children and students from different schools and of different age groups should be invited to participate. SANA SHAFIQ Karachi
