Sir: The Pakistan cricket team’s performance in this year’s world cup so far has proved only one thing: this team’s scoring depth is not more than 150 runs and its bowling and fielding depth is to give away 300 runs. This is the kind of ‘talent’ one expects to see in college level teams, not world-class teams. Openers have totally failed so it is all up to the middle order. Bowlers lack control and penetration. Performance is consistent both against strong teams like India or weaker teams like Zimbabwe. I think there is a problem somewhere else, not with team talent. Team members look very tense and demotivated, and are uncoordinated as a team. The coach also looks uninterested and lacks energy. Someone in a position of authority must look into the affairs of cricket and the cricket board urgently. NASIR RIAZ Muscat, Oman
