Sir: Polio has crippled our society, not just our children. It has ravaged the limbs of hope and has halted the growth of our progress. We see around us the walls going up and the international community gating itself away from our shores. We see the looming spectre of travel bans and yet we still do nothing to truly tackle the silent beast that has made Pakistan one of the world’s worst countries to live in. How can the government just sit back and watch this onslaught? To issue the same rhetoric about defeating polio shows the lack of will in our authorities to truly eliminate the disease. It is time we got a move on before the whole world chains us to this soil and disallows us from ever leaving again.
