Sir: No one can deny the fact that in Pakistan the average weight of people is increasing and their levels of health and fitness are decreasing. The increase in average weight of people is attributed to the lack of exercise as well as excessive use of fast foods. Certainly, people consume fast foods like chips, burgers, pizzas and many more foods of this sort. The consumption of these food items increases the weight of their consumers. If a person is old, his stomach will not work properly after eating fast foods. Moreover, many diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, gallstones, high blood pressure and high cholesterol levels become common among obese persons. On the other hand, in this technological world, most people prefer to use automobiles instead of walking on foot even for minor household chores. They have become addicted to all kinds of facilities available in their homes. They have lost interest in long walks, which is also one of the reasons for the weight gain. If anyone wants to decrease weight and wants to live a healthy and fit life, he should do exercise for 30 to 60 minutes on a daily basis. SAFIA MOOSA Turbat
