Sir: It is frightening to note the government’s ineptitude when it comes to battling a menace that has been a bane in this country for the past few years: the dengue virus. One would think that the authorities would have gotten a grip on how to handle the spread of dengue by now but if latest figures are to be believed, more than 150 people in Rawalpindi have been infected by it in this season alone and more than 10 have died. This is no joke. Dengue can be a debilitating sickness and can take its toll on whole communities. The response by the government is just too lax in this regard. It is time concrete measures are taken to bring this virus under control — too much time has passed for anything else to fit the bill. FARAH KHAN Rawalpindi
